Access Runtime 2003 when slipstreaming SP2 Mickman 3/6/2006 2:31:27 PM We deploy Office 2003 SP1 administrative installations with SMS. I'm testing the deployment of SP2. First i slipstreamed SP2 into the administrative installation. I did the same for the MUI's we use. This works well. I noticed that Access Runtime is not updated with this method. If i install the updated administrative installation and i manually start the SP2 patch it sees Acces Runtime needs updating and does so. Why doesn't the update happen with slipstreaming? You may want to look at admin docs for Office 2000 SP1, SP2 and SP3. Are you sure there was noting in the Office 20003 SP2 readme about this?? Either way, it should not be very difficult; I mean we have to patch and deploy Frontpage and Project separate to the main Office MSI but it's not exactly a major problem... There are no notes about Access Runtime in SP2, but i noticed when applying the SP2 patch manually it upgraded the Access Runtime installation to the latest version, 11.0.7969.0. But because we are not going to apply the patch on all computers but on the administrative installation, it would be nice to apply SP2 on the AccessRT.msi. But this doesn't work. I don't think MS thought about this one for slipstreaming SP2. OK, well as you've noted it's a different MSI. Here's the "old" way it used to work under Office 2000: <http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011524761033.aspx> Note the tiny section related to the Access runtime Artsp3ff.msp - it's as if they treat it as a separate app. Are you sure you can't extract the relevant MSP from the dist?
