Hello TLE,

I read your post as I did the same thing last year. I had a free version of
Office 2003 and after the trial expired upgraded to the full version. I had
to uninstalled the free version and all other versions of Office before
installing the new upgraded version. I then downloaded all updates and that
was it. Hope this helps.

I have a new computer that came with Office 2003 that will expire in 60 days.
I was able to purchase a new copy of Office 2003 through the Microsoft Home
Use Program. I want to install this copy before my cuurent software expires,
can I load the new version over top of the current software or do I have to
first uninstall the version of Office that came with my computer? If so,
what precautions do I need to take, if any?

Do you mean 2007? You could reinstall it or use System Restore to a point
right before you uninstalled the trial.

If it was Office 2007 then follow Tim's advice if it was Office 2003 then you are out of luck. You might want to install Office2003 Trial instead to have Office.

Correction

You might want to install Office 2007 Trial instead. I wrote Office 2003 instead of Office 2007. Sorry about that
