Spell Checker gone bonkers
What Now <whatnow[ at ]nowhere.com> 11/26/2008 5:15:44 AM
Dell Vostro 1000 w/ Synaptics touchpad
XP SP2 Home
Word 2000

Everything was working fine on this computer until today. Out of the
blue when I went to spell check a Word doc, the speller stopped on a
misspelled word for just a split second, then it would turn from red
to black and only the "Undo Edit", "Change", and "Change All" buttons
are clickable, but not the "Ignore" or "Ignore ALL" buttons, which are
greyed out. I also cannot click on any of the suggested spellings to
actually FIX the spelling error.

I saw that someone suggested the problem could be an overly sensitive
touchpad. I de-sensitized the pad and rebooted. It made no difference.
I then downloaded and installed the latest touchpad drivers from Dell
-- it also made no differece.

Again, I've been using Word on this computer for 8 months or so with
no problem. I have no idea why this came up suddenly.

Anyone?
