Where are the Smart Tags?
Stormingerman 12/29/2008 11:38:01 PM
Many months ago Smart Tags in Word docs disappeared, would be nice to have
then back.
I checked under Tools - AutoCorrect - Smart Tags, where everything is
checked.So - where are they?
Any help much appreciated!

I would check that Spelling/Grammar checking are both enabled and working,
and have a look at

Which version of Word?

Did you by chance also install Word 2000? If so then the indicator (purple
dotted line) will not display. But if you hover your mouse over where it
should display you'll see the Smart Tag Options button. As for getting the
purple dotted line back, I have the same issue and spent some time trying to
figure out how to get it to redisplay. I've uninstalled Word 2000, rebuilt
the Registry, removed the entire Office installation (along with manual
clean-up) and reinstalled, repaired the installation, etc. So far I've come
up empty handed and gave up long ago. I know reformatting will work but it's
not that important to me. <g>
