Problem adding linked-table via ODBC (Access 2003/Vista Ultimate)
Ernie13Reston 6/17/2007 2:25:00 PM
I am running Access 2003 on a Vista Ultimate box. I am attempting to create
linked tables to a FoxPro database using the Visual FoxPro Free Table driver.
When I attempt to add a linked table and choose ODBC Database (from the Files
of Type in the Link window) the dialog simply closes and takes me back to the
active Access window w/o allowing me to select the ODBC DSN. So, the
operation that failes is:

File -> GetExternalData() -> Linked Tables... -> [Select ODBC Database] in
Files of type (in the Link window).

I see no errors in the Event viewer.

Any assistance is greately appreciated

Probably the Norton Anti-Virus 2006 or 2007. Disable the Office Plug-In or
the Office File Protection (don't remember the exact name) before creating
your ODBC linked tables; after that, you can reenable it.

Other anti-viruses can show a similar behavior.

Excellent. That fixed the problem.
