Outline Numbering

Hello, I am trying to resolve the following issue without outline numbering
in a quality specification.

1 I want to type an outline

1.1 This outline is really neat

1.2 And has existed since creation

1.2.1 However, since I am always evolving

1.2.2 I am going to want to add content after paragraph 1.2

The next line will be inserted at 1.3 and will say, "Maybe, even before
that!"

However, I would like a # pound sign to prefix the line, indicating that
this was an addition to the original text. I would use an * asterisk to
indicate a change in text. How can I do this without having to manually
construct my outline numbering sequence?

1.2 And has existed since creation

# 1.3 Maybe, even before that!

1.2.1 However, since I am always evolving

1.2.2 I am going to want to add content after
paragraph 1.2

Thank you,

If you don't want to use Word's outline/multilevel list numbering, just type
exactly what you want.

You might consider using inline revision marks ( I mean not in balloons) to
track these changes less onerously. (Do you really want 1.2.1 and 1.2.2 to
follow 1.3?)
