Multiple Contact Directories
Clif Barber 12/28/2008 4:01:01 PM
I received a response from notifyMS[ at ]microsoft.com but the thread on this
topic was deleted. The link from the Notification does not identify any
messages on this subject and a search also does not find anything.

HELP!!

Use a newsreader instead of the crufty web interface.

I have no clue what newsreader is. Please advise.

I was able to create a new Contacts_Non-Sync folder per your instructions.
Thank you very much! I now have the following questions:

1. How do I transfer contacts from my main Contacts folder to my new
Contacts_Non-Sync folder?
2. How do I right click on an e-mail address and add to the new
Contacts_Non-Sync folder instead of the old Contacts folder?
3. How do I get the enw Contacts_Non-Sync folder to show up in the
Navigation Pane for the mail interface of Outlook 2007?

Clif

A Newsreader reads News groups rather like email - the message headers are
downloaded to your machine and you can perform operations such as searching
exactly like you do with email. (Only it's not email...)
Have a look here:

Re: Moving contacts from folder1 to folder2

#1 - Open folder1 - with all contacts showing (Phone list view is best for
this purpose)
#2 - If moving a <block of contacts> - click (once) and higlight first
contact, hold shift key, click on last contact in block
#3 - Click right mouse button and "move to folder"

#4 - If moving random contacts from folder1 - then hold Ctrl key down and
highlight all desired contacts
#5 - same as step#2

Re: auto adding to new contact folder from email address

You can't - all contacts will only be added to your default (primary)
contact folder

Re: Having new contact folder show up in mail interface

Assume you are referring to having it accessible for contact selection in
the "TO: CC: or BCC" lines for a new email message
#1 - Right click on new contact folder --> Properties --> Outlook Address
Book tab --> make sure that the "Show this folder as an E-mail Address Book"
is checked
