I know MS doesn't recommend automating word, but we are automating word for now. In all of the documentation I ahve found it says to configure the dcom object to start as a user that is part of the administrators group. Can anyone tell me why this is required? I have modified the component to start as the launching user, which is Network Service since it is a web service calling the component on W2K3. It appears to run fine with initial testing and it isn't an admin account. Any thoughts on this? And please don't say do not automate word or run word on a server, we know that and are going to move away from this, but this is an interim solution.
