Office 2007 Startup
Lisa1234 11/13/2008 3:10:01 PM
We are installing Office 2007 from a custom .msp file. When first opening
Word, the user is prompted with two dialog boxes:
1. Welcome to the 2007 Microsoft....
Get Help Online
2. Sign up for Microsoft Updates...

We'd like to not have these come up, is there a way to further customize the
install?
Thanks!

Lisa,

I did the same last year and used a few settings to turn off those features.

You'll have to go back and launch the setup \admin and open the original MSP
(or create an entirely new one depending on whether you're going to patch
your original installation or reinstall)

To remove the Office 2007 update interface go to the Modify Setup
properties – and add an entry called HIDEUPDATEUI with a value of TRUE.

This blocks user from being directed to Office updates after first use.

I'm guessing the Welcome screen might be the Customer Experience sign-up?

If so we disabled that from the Modify User Settings section under

Microsoft Office 2007 System - Privacy -Trust center - Enable Customer
Experience... - Disabled

Hope this helps.
