We've recently upgraded to Office 2007. We installed the application on one computer and created an image. After deploying the image on several computers, we've noticed a problem opening some files (Excel and Word mostly) stored on our network. Specifically, when users open these files, they get a message: <filename> is reserved by <username>. Enter password to..........[there are two buttons: "Read Only" and "Close"]
The username is that of the person who installed Office 2007 on the original computer. A user can select the "Read Only" button and do a Save As to save the document with a different name. Then they are able to open the new file without any problem. It's a long way around, but it is at least a temporary solution. I remember reading something somewhere about installing Office 2007 on a computer for imaging. I think it said one shouldn't open any Office 2007 application before creating an image. I believe this is what happened in this case.
Without having to recreate the image, is there a way to prevent the above error message from occuring?
