3 Set of Numbering styles Added to Template
Margy 11/6/2008 4:35:00 AM
Software is XP pro and Word 2003:
I have set up 3 different types of customised outline numbering in styles
(all linked to heading 1 so they can go into document map) and added to the
template so these are available for all documents. Also a variety of heading
styles and bullet lists etc - all added to template. Each style has a
shortcut assigned to it. This client (legal firm) need one set of numbering
to be unusal and would so appreciate help with how to do this please.
The one of set needs the 1st level numbering to be centered on the page and
have no text next to it - no text is fine as I have told them enter a space
after the numbering starts so when they enter the number does not drop. From
level 2 on is fine as those are aligned to left margin with normal indents
from then. My problem is they want this all automated - Level One to be
automated that when they use the assigned shortcut e.g. Alt+NA the first
number will go to the centre with a space after it and 2nd level
automatically go align to left margin so that they can just start typing with
no other formatting commands. From what I know Outline numbering aligns to
the left of the page and indents the various levels as they are set. There is
no option to set the number to be in the middle of the page. There is the
option for a number position to be left centre of right, but that is still
against the left margin.
Advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry this was such a looong explanation.

Set up the numbering schemes associated with paragraph styles. See
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html.

To center a number, format the paragraph style for that level as centered.

And make sure to set the "Follow number with" option in the Customize
Outline Numbered List dialog box to "Nothing."
