Uncheck collate by default to avoid printer error
David H. 12/2/2008 8:31:01 PM
When I print multiple copies of an Excel document (Excel 2003 or 2007 on
Windows XP) it prints one copy OK, then generates an error on the printout.
(The problem is very similar to the one discussed in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948349, but that solution is for a different
OS.)

To avoid this error I need to uncheck the "collate" option in the Print
dialog box. Fine.

Is there any way I can get Excel to always leave that option unchecked? As
it is, the option is always checked, even if I have just printed the document
with it unchecked.

Obviously I could create a simple macro to print 6 copies, uncollated. But
I sometimes need 2 copies, sometimes 20, so a macro isn't an easy fix.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I can't test this right now but I think if you choose File, Print, and click
the Properties button you may find a Collate property which will stay off.

Cheers,
