How to set default language
churin <churin[ at ]new.postalias> 3/24/2007 7:38:47 PM
I am using WORD 2003 on English Windows XP Pro with the default input
language set for Japanese.

Presently, when I launch Word 2003 and start typing in then WORD
responds as if I am writing Japanese, so that I have to switch the input
language to English by pressing a hotkey combination.

There is Language settings tool in the program folder of MS Office Tools
which I used to set default language to be English but the problem remains.

Could anyone help?

I tried four PCs. With two of them, default language setting of English
by Office overrode default system language setting of Japanese, but with
other two, the overriding did not happend. With these two PCs, I had to
set the system default to be English.

In the "Tips" section of my website you'll find an article that describes (in
some detail) how language formatting works and, to a certain extent, can be
controlled. See if that helps at all?
