Thread: existing product key won't work on trial version

existing product key won't work on trial version

I just bought a new laptop to replace one that is defective. My new laptop
has a trial version of Office. I have Office Standard 2007 for Academic Use
on the laptop that is being replaced. When prompted to enter a product key
for the trial version of Office on my new laptop, I entered my existing
product key. However, it is not being accepted. Do I need to wait until the
trial version has expired and install my existing Office Standard 2007 for
Academic Use? If I can't get my existing product key to work on the trial
version, what are my options?

Thank you for your assistance.

Uninstall the trial, clear temp files, reboot, install your version from cd
(Your key is never going to work with the trial, why should it?)
