Windows XP Fax will only work with a standard Fax modem and a telephone
line. You can do this with DSL because they supply filters that allow you
to connect normal telephones and the like to the DSL line. The only way to
do this with Cable broadband is to use an Internet eFax service.

Unchecking items in Windows Components that are already checked uninstalls
them. Leave Accessories and Utilities, Internet Explorer, Media Player and
whatever else is checked alone and just add a checkmark to the Fax service
