I am primarily running 2007 but I need to run 2003 Access to maintain compatibility with client installations. Unfortunately when I switch between 2003 and 2007 in either direction, the Configuration reruns. Is there any way around this reconfiguration? When going to 2007, the message is "Configuration Progress." When going to 2003, the message is "Preparing to Install." This task has always been successful but it is time consuming. The easy answer is to stop using 2003 or put it on a different machine but I would prefer a better solution if possible. I do want to have access to 2003 as long as my customers remain on 2003.

RE: Office 2003 and 2007 on same machine. Rick in NS 6/11/2007 8:42:00 PM I have had a similar problem trying to run office XP and 2003 on the same machine. I too wish to switch back and forth between different versions of Access and get a similar message from the Windows Installer. (See my post in this list -- 'XP and 2003 on the same machine' 06-10-07). I found the solution was to install Office 2003 in a entirely different directory than XP and to copy the entire contents of the 2003 install CD into that directory. Windows installer still kicks in for a few seconds but I can now swtich back and forth between versions of Access without having to insert the install CD.
