Package Wizard 2003 Installs Wrong Shortcut
My agency just upgraded from Office XP to 2003. I'm trying to use the
Package Wizard that comes with Developer Extensions. The problem is with the
shortcut that gets installed--sometimes. Here's the deal:
I created an install package and tested in on my own machine. All was well.
Then I tested it on two different users' machines. The users' PCs have
basic Office 2003, but not MS A...

The (Access 2007) runtime and developer extensions will be FREE!
Folks
From Clint Covington's blog
The runtime and developer extensions will be FREE!
This morning we are announcing that the developer extensions and
runtime will be available for FREE! In the past, Access developers had
to purchase the Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Office System in
order to build and deploy runtime solutions. The product was costly at
nearly $800 for the full ve...

Queries in Add-in
Hi all! I created a little Access program, that I'm now implementing as an
add-in (.mda). All ok except that I want my add-in to make use of the
Dlookup function (which is pretty handy and clean:).
As I see Dlookup only see tables in the current database and not the add-in
database. How can I modify this behavior? Or is there another way I can run
queries to the add-in db without using A...

Automatic Numbering
I have an old Data Base that was imported into Access. It has a membership
number that was an automatically generated. I would like to continue those
numbers but have not figured out how to have an automatically generated
number in Access start at a specified number to continue on from. My new
starting number will be 8750 and would like each new member to get a
membership number that ...

BTW: Access 2007 will have a Runtime.
Not that there was really any doubt however it has been confirmed to me on
the Access Blog, not that I was asking.
Good luck to all developers who use Access 2007 (or more to the point Good
Luck to your guinea pigs (oops - clients), I think we shall give this
upgrade a miss, for now.

Making an Access - SQL db solution portable
I have an Access application which runs in a server enviroment where I have
an SQL server that the Access connects to. The customer is so happy with my
soultion and told another company about it, they would like something like
that, so I need to make a copy of the setup to a cd to send to the other
company - as a demo. They have no employees with enough IT knowledge to
install a SQL Serv...

/Runtime Switch seems easy to disable.
Hi;
Have been reading about "How to distribute a secured database", (Article ID
205151 for A2K)
It states: "Specify the /runtime switch on all command lines that you use to
start the application"
Found this example at http://www.kbalertz.com
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSAccess.exe" "C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Samples\Northwind.mdb" /runtime
It seems...

User Group Permission Read/Update/Insert/Delete NOT READ DESIGN.
Hi;
Just learned something "Frightening" by trial and error.
Have a runtime version created in A2K.
Used "User and Group permissions" to secure it.
The Administrator has a password to open the dbase and be able to access the
designs and codes. (user name: Admin, Pword: *****
The users open the dbase w/o a password, (they do have a password to protect
their data.), (user name: My ...

Database Map
Anyone ever heard of a Database Map?
I need to create a "Database Map" for the custom database I just finished.
I don't even know where to begin! It's a little puzzling. I think the end
result should look like a flow-chart. But the map should also list all the
database objects, and how they are linked/joined with other objects (ie
queries).
Has anyone done anything like this be...

Allow Users to Access Database Simultaneously and Remotely
I have created a database app that allows our 2 recruiters in our office to
track potential employee candidates. They work both out of the office and
out of their house. How can I store the database application so they can
both access it from work and home, while also being able to read and write to
the database simultaneously?
Thanks....
