Getting "...not a valid path..." pop up messages.
Using Access 2000 DAO. The front end is on the users PC's and the backend is
on the Q: Drive which is on a subnet that is different than the main network
drive for the users.
The following messages pop up continuously on two of the users PC’s after
the Database has been open and not used for approximately 10 minutes:
“Q:\CalTranParkBE.mdb is not a valid path. Make sure that the path is

Access 97: Compact Issues
Hello all,
I have an issue that I have been researching, but would like to see if
anyone else has some other ideas I may be able to try. Here's the situation;
I have an Access 97 database backend used by multiple users, and multiple
Access application front ends. This database would normally have to be
compacted once every 2-3 months just due to the constant use and everyday
wear and...

can't keep number unique
I have a multi-user ACCESS 2003 DB. When a user logs in, they may add
a new record. However, it must have a unique number. Originally I
was using dmax( field, tablename) and adding one to it. However, if
more than one person is adding records, they get the same number,
until one of them saves and closes, then the other loses thier data.
So, I create a table, in which i store the last valu...

Multi-user / Multi-location DB from scratch
I am a newbie who was recently tasked with setting up a DB based reporting
system to report on approximately 20 customers' KPIs.
Here's the environment:
-20 customers all over the U.S.
-20-30 users all over the U.S.
-All have high-speed internet access
-Very few users are on the LAN/WAN
-125 reports
-Some existing customers already utilize our oracle server to feed data to
where we ...

New version of the Auto FE Updater
- Windows Vista now supported.
- Starting an exe, such as the Sagekey runtime system, is now supported.
- Fixed the "The MDW account name and password in the INI file weren't valid for
opening the MDB to determine the version of the MDB" message when in a mixed
operating system work station environment.
- Emphasized using %appdata% as a location for the Front End MDB/MDE in the sample

link multiple tables/databases
I'd like to set it up a situation where one backend with only tables
is linked to forms/reports/queries in one database and updates a dBase
table in another database. The backend tables are already linked to
the front forms/reports/queries. Now I am trying to set it up so that
it is also linked to and updates the dBase tables in the second
database. The dBase tables support a full-blown ap...

How to update a split database
Hi,
My company has a database which I recently split. The database is used
by about 10 people. I wish to be able to add new forms and tables to
the database now and again. The idea I have now is to have the front
and backend to the database on the server and then a shortcut to the
frontend on each user desktop. How should I then go about updating the
front end or backend? Will I need to ge...

Automatic requery
Using Access 2003:
My main form has three subforms, all of which are populated by different
queries of the same table. Records move from one subform to another when a
combo box selection triggers a requery. All three subforms have the same
combo box.
The problem is this: the requery is only triggered on the computer of the
user who has made the combo box selection; while the other users...

Automating Compact and Repair
I have an application that has the tables on a file server and the front end
on 4 citrix boxes (the app gives each user there own copy when they logOn to
citrix.) Is there a way to automate compact and repair say, every Sunday
mornign at 2am?
How important is it to compact and repair the front end periodically?
Thanks for your help in advance. Rob

Error in loading dll
I have an access 2003 .mdb file that resides in a shared directory on a 2003
server. I have users on XP Pro and Win 2k that use this. As of this morning
no 2K users can run the application. They get 'Error in loading DLL.' I
also get this error on the 2003 server where the actual .mdb file resides!.
There must be some .dll somewhere that 2003 server and 2000 are dependent on
but tha...

Attempted to open a database that is already open
Hi,
We have a database which is used by about 5 people. We also code small
parts of the database now and again.
Recently we have started getting the error -
"You attempted to open a database that is already opened ... "
even when the person who is locking the database does not have access
open.
Could this be a problem with the code in the the Database, for
example, what would ha...

Event sequence for locked record
If you try to enter data into a record that is locked, nothing visibly
happens. However, I assume that there are keyup, beforeupdate, and perhaps
some other events ocurring behind the scenes. Does anyone know what they are?
Here's why I'm asking: I'm in search of a way to detect that a record is
locked so that I can pop-up a message to the user explaining to him or her
why the entire pr...
