what controls whether an object is hidden in a global replica?
Just posted a different Q, but here's another ... When I make certain tables and queries hidden in the Design Master, they still come out unhidden when I make replicas of the DM. I've just been getting object properties and checking the "hidden" attribute. Is there something else that needs to be done to maintain the "hidden-ness" of queries and tables in replicas? I'm using Acce...

removing members from a replica set
I'm relatively new to replication in Access DBs, and have run into a problem I haven't been able to quickly solve. In moving data around, and re-designating the Design Master as a design master after having moved data, I've ended up with lists of old replicas (paths to them, actually) in the pick list when I go to Tools>Replication>Synchronize Now, under "Synchronize directly with...

Multiple Replica Sets Not Working
We are attempting to set up multiple replica sets or groups where each group replicates among itself, but not with each other. It's not working. This is how we have attempted to set it up. A single master database is placed in its designated group (see Replica Master folder at link below). That master is Recovered in its designated folder using Access 2K. Next, the replica hubs are cre...

Access based software replication
I am experiencing problems with estimating software based on MS Access. I have very little understanding of Access. The estimation software allows our designers to leave with their laptops, make new customers and estimates then return to sync from a master replica. The data becomes corrupt after replication and all applications relating to Quick Estimator fail. Any links or suggestio...

is changing design master safe?
I need to make a minor change to the table of a simple access database that was created by an intern 2 years ago and has not been modified since. I located the design master but can not make any modifications to it, nor can I find a way to change the permisssions (choices grayed out). There are replicas which have all the current data in them, the design master has none. It looks what I co...

Table design change causes synchronization failure
Hello, I have a question regarding table design changes when replication is being used. I have created a design master and a partial replica. Everything worked great including synchronization. Then, I needed to change the data type of one of the fields. Not knowing, I tried to change the datatype in the partial replica. I received an error saying I could not made a change to the re...

Restrict Old Employee From replicating
We have a single access 2000 database (design master) with partial replica's based on salesman ID. Replication is over internet and is working fine. We have let one salesperson go, and want to prevent him from replicating. We do wish to keep his ID available for new person in his territory. Is there a way to prevent a certain replica from being able to sync? thanks for any and all help.....

Design Master changing to Replica
For an Access database that has replication with the Design Master located on a file server the client replica's are able to synchronise with out any problems. However recently the design master has been changing to replica. Has anybody had this issue or know how to identify what is causing the design master to change status? ...

Move switchboard table from replicated backend to unreplicated front end.
Hi All, I'm administering a split database with replicated back end. The front end uses the built in access switchboard menu system, and the switchboard table is in the replicated backend database. What's the correct procedure to move the replicated switchboard table from a backend database, to a non replicated table in the front end database without disrupting any users? I guess...

Basic replication question.
I'm designing a FE/BE application where the BE will be replicated. There will be several people in the office that will access the BE that will reside on a share drive. There will be several replicas on laptops for field use. My question is this: Should the office people's FE be linked to the design master or should it be linked to a full replica? Does it matter one way or the other? Thanks...

Primary Key - Autoincrement or to not autoincrement
I have now been reading many posts on here trying to determine the best way to go about setting a Primary Key (PK) on a replicated database. I am about to embark on the whole replication, security, etc (feeling like I'm taking one hell of a bite in one go trying to do so many things and I want to do them properly bit by bit). I have a tblJobs which I need a PK. At this point I've only...

Replicated table stopped sending updates to other replicas
Hi there, I have a replicated backend database (Access2002/3) which has been working fine for several years since it was a baby in Access97. 6 LAN users on main data file and 2 WAN users with indirect sync using VPN. Separate unmanaged design master. Data file is about 100Mb with 10 tables, all replicated. Over the last few months one table (the same one each time) has stopped replicating...

Indirect Sync A97 - Replication Manager
Is it true that Microsoft has now made the files necessary to implement indirect synchronization for A97 public? Does that mean it is no longer necessary to purchase a copy of a Developer's version to legally implement A97 indirect replication? I assume the combination of Microsoft's publicly available files and MichKa's TSI Synchronizer would be used to make indirect replication possible. ...

Hiding/Showing System Fields
Using Access 2002 and 2003, when I change the Show System Objects option, sometimes the replication fields are hidden and sometimes they are not. In some cases, regular data fields are hidden and the replica fields are still displayed. Is this is a known issue? Any ideas on how I might be able to fix this annoying problem? ...
