Splitting a database
Hello, I am working with an existing database with many objects already built
into it and am wanting to understand a litlte bit more about splitting the
database. It will roll out to about 15 users and I want to be able to update
the tables behind the scenes while still allowing them to process information
as need be. My question is can I continue to add new tables to the back end
of t...

DAO Synchronizing in Access 2007
As many of you may know, the new file format in Access 2007 abandons
replication support (as well as user-level security). But the MDB
format still supports replication (whether created in a previous
version of Access or in 2007).
However, there is a bug in the initial release of A2K7 that causes a
DAO synch operation to error out. Microsoft has released a hotfix
for this. See:

Switchboard Not Found
Hi Groupies
I have a Access 2003 database that I have replicated. I have used the
Switchboard Manager to create a switchboard for the database. When I open
one of the replicas, I receive the error message that the "....Jet Database
Engine cannot find the object "Switchboard"....". If I say OK at this
message, then the exact same message shows up again. If I say OK again my
switchboard...

Backend bloating
We have used a complex Access (02-03) medical billing application for 18
months. The backend is replicated (2 global replicas and a design master)
and direct synch has been used only. Roving laptops log onto network
locally to sync.
There are about 50 tables and there are ~ 700 patient's entered. The back
end has crept up from ~12 mb after initial replica creation to a current
~150...

Possible with no network?
Hi Groupies
So having read far too much and feeling a little overwhelmed, my question is
this?
Is it possible to work with replicas without a network?
I want to have project managers out in the field with laptops and I would
like to keep an up to date copy in our office that contains information from
everybody. They have the ability to email via wireless satellite.
Do we have any...

I am working with a computer loaded with VISTA and Access 2007 to test one of

office via the Internet. This particular application works fine on WindowsXP
and Access 2003.

Do I need Replication or TransferDatabase?
I have a database which will reside on the user's computer. Every few
months or so I'd like to have the user be able to click a button to
export all the tables to a file as a backup and have the users email
that file to me. Also, every few months the user may need me to edit
their data (i.e., append new records to the list) so again, they could
send me their data, I manipulate it, then send...

Dear all,
I have a web application that uses access database. And a local windows

Max locks per file when synching
Hi all,
I've got a database splitted between back-end/front-end, both secured. The
back-end is replicated because I need to be able to work from a laptop and
other users from the network. I think I followed all the good practices that
I know of (secure-split-replicate, only tables in replicas, etc.).
I just made a change to the design master (added two fields), and I want it
synched to the...

Replication and Runtime
Hello All,
I've developed several applications that use a mdb back-end and an mde front
end that run using the access runtime license. I have run into a problem
that I think might be solved by using replication on the back-end - but I'm
not sure if that is even possible with a runtime application.
Here's the problem: The client currently using my product "upgraded" his
network to ex...

the users cannot enter any new duplicate values. Then, I tried to
