The following format switches are giving me inconsistent results in MS Word
2003: \* MERGEFORMAT and \* Charformat.

Style not properly applied
hello to you all,
The situation is
* Working in Word2003
* The document contains Formfields, and is protected for formfields
* The document is build using styles
* Style "heading 2" has a grey background set
* The style, which is applied on the formfields, is "Standard". (there
are no formfields in a Heading2 style)

"set language" in Word 2007?
I'm using Word 2007 on Windows XP.
One of the things that I like to do in a doc before I finish it is to
select all, set the language to U.S. English, and re-run the spell check.
I can't figure out how to set the language for all styles in my 2007 doc.
I'm in Review > Spelling, but I can't see anything relevant there for
languages. (I see that "English" is listed in the "Research" ...

Hi all,
I have HTML code(not file). How can I view the data in the wod document.
For example
HTML code:

Just the year as date format
I am working on a document that is published as eBook and undergoes
regular updates and extensions for the next couple of years. Currently
some 500 pages, in the footer I have a copyright notice, i.e. (c)
2006-2007 ABC format. What I would like is that the last year (2007)
automatically updates with the current year (so in 2009 it shows "(c)
2006-2009 ABC". Then I cannot forget (and the eBook ...

How to prevent Word Or Outlook From Replaceing Apostrophes
In Office 2007, I can't figure out how to stop word from replacing a normal
apostrophe into a smart apostrophe or whatever the office programmers are
calling it nowadays. It's replacing ASCII 0039 ' with ASCII 0146 ’. How can I
prevent word from making this change? I've tried setting the auto correct
options to replace ASCII 0039 ' with ASCII 0039 ' and it doesn't work....

MERGEFORMAT in TOC fields does not stick
When I have a TOC field with the \* MERGEFORMAT switch and then update the
field (F9), any formats I have applied disappear.
This is a problem because my TOC fields inherit condensed character spacing
from the captions in the body of the document. (I have condensed the spacing
in some captions so that they fit.) This makes for a TOC with uneven spacing
(the lines that refer to captions ...

Cant change the "view"
My daughter was doing a project for school last night and somehow the
"view" has changes to what I beleive is "outline or something like
that. In the image below it looks great but on our screen that poem
has symbols all over it. Paragraph signe, enter signs, dots between

best method Indexing in word 2002
Hello,
I want to index of 1100 entries in a word document. To make this process
faster I thought that I could make a macro which eliminates some steps.
Right now I mark the entry with the mouse and click on a Mark an Entry icon,
then I click on Mark in the menu and on close and move to the next entry

Problems with justify feature
I have this annoying problem. When I apply full justify feature to a

Table outlines disappear - help !
Hi,
I'm translating a rather large document, but the source
document which is mostly a series of tables when copied/pasted
must have something wrong with it as the table itself disappears
leaving the text all over the place. It's upsetting because if I can't
preserve the formatting the work will take ten times as long.
Any ideas how I can 'fix' the table so that it doesn't disappear ?

I'm trying to set up a TOC. Have all the Heading styles correct. I do
not want chapter numbers to show up in the TOC, i.e., (1-Chapter One) I
don't want the numerical number there. What I want is for the TOC to
show the Capter and page number. i.e, 1-2, 2-4, etc.
I blanked out the number on my Outline Numbered list, I made it white.

Multiple entries selected for quick parts
I have a template form which was developed in Word 2003, which utilizes form
checkboxes, dropdown, text and autotext. I understand that autotext has been
replaced with the Quick Parts Building Blocks. The first problem I have is
that the form needs to be protected in order for the checkboxes to work.

Book fold prints one page on top of the other
Hi!
I am toally baffled!
I do Bulletins for a Church that uses a bookfold page setup of four pages. I
do 2 different kinds - one with 2 columns and one with no columns. We just
installed Office 2007 on a new Dell computer with a Vista interface.
Problem:
for each bulletin - of the 4 pages one page prints over another
page.

Macro to apply bold to text in quotes
In some of my documents I have to regularly do search and replace and
make text in quotation marks bold. this works well but can be very
repetitive in a lot of docs. I've recorded a macro to do this but I
can't get the macro to include the bold formatting in the replace

How to make all the rows of a table expanding in the same page?
Now, some rows are at the bottom of one page while the rest are at the top

word 2003 how to remove background/watermark text
Hi
I have word 2003 SP2 with a 150 page document. Lots of tables some
stuff in 2 columns, mixed landscape and portrait pages. Contents pages

Cannot run WORD anymore
After reloading Microsoft Office I can start WORD but straight after opening
I get this error message: "This program has requested the Runtime to
terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team
for more information". Then it won't run.
