Problem with heading # in figure #
We need figure numbers that are relative to heading numbers, so the 2nd
figure in section 3.2 would be 3.2-2. We know how to create these in the
Caption dialog, and the resulting field definition shows the right heading
level. This document has had a couple of previous authors who may have
introduced complications. What happens is that a figure number is correct one
minute, but if I go to ano...

Numbering in a non-protected section of a protected document
I'm using Word 2002 (10.6764.6735) SP3.
This is the first time that I've tried to create a protected form template
that has multiple sections, some protected and some not. I'm discovering
that even in non-protected sections, when the protection is active, it's not
possible to restart the numbering for a new list. Are there any workarounds
for this, or is it inherent in the protection ...

Auto Text and Numbered Lists
We have set up a set of AutoTexts that contain numbered paragraphs in a
template that we use as an Add-in. When we insert the the Auto Texts into the
template the Outline numbering works fine, but when we insert the Auto Text
into a different document the list starts its numbering from 0 (instead of
1), and we have to reapply the Style (a new style set up for the Numbering).
Is there a ...

Section Page Number does not start from 1?
-- first post to the usenet, apology for possibly breaking the posting
rule --
I've searched through the archive, and after more than 2 hours of not
finding the exact same problem I am facing right now (add that with
hours of going back and forth using the header and footer toolbar in MS
Word :), guess it's time to post my problem here.
Is there any specific reason of why the page number...

The following page numbering formula does not seem to work!
OK - I read the MVP web page about the page numbering, and am trying to
get the following formula to work:
{IF {PAGE} > 2 "{={PAGE \*roman} - 2}" ""}
Basically, its for a table of contents for a manual.
I want the first 2 pages to not have any numbers, than pages 3-5 to
have roman numerals, starting with roman numeral i (ie 1).
I get the dreaded !undefined bookmark error. I don't...

Auto-numbering keeps goofing up
I am creating a long numbered list of questions for my students. I must
use auto-numbering because I add and delete questions as well as moving them
around. I type up the questions using auto-numbering as follows:
1. Question 1
a. Answer 1
b. Answer 2
c. Answer 3
2. Question 2
a. Answer 4
b. Answer 5
3. Question 3 (draw a picture)...

a two-lines style numbering
Hi!
The template of my thesis paper requires the chapter's name to appear in a
new line after the chapter's number:
Chapter 1
Introduction
....
Chapter 2
The Model
....
and so on.
Any idea how can I do that?
Thanks,
Erez.

Numbers within a symbol for a numbered list
I need to create a numbered list that contains a flag around the number. I
need to use a symbol that I have customized from autoshapes as I cannot find
the appropriate symbol (an isosceles triangle that rests on a point of the
shorter side). The items need to be numbered consecutively and need to
function like normal outline numbering....

Resetting styles
Hi all,
I have a big document (~140 pages) that has been formatted by the user from
hell.... Anyway, all of the default styles have been tweaked. I need to
preserve the application of the styles, but I need to reset them to their
default values.
So I don't want to change which style is applied to which text. I just want
to reset it (the style) to the default values. For example, t...
