blanc document in word showing " L " shaped sign - help
When I open a new document each corner shows an "L" shaped diagram/drawing.
It appears in every blanc document. Please HELP, How can I clear this. Bless
my daughter!!!

Can I format header/footer in a doc so not faded?
Is there a way that I can format the header and footer in a document so that
it does not appear faded out in normal view?
I need to send a doc as an attachment and want it to appear as it would
printed when viewed, but the header and footer are faded out unless you click
into print preview.

widow & orphan control with columns
I am creating an address directory merge with 3 columns in Word 2007. Is
there any way to keep the addresses at the end of each column together? The
program is separating the addresses at the end of the column and putting some
of the lines into the next column.

When I tab my cursor is jumping to the next line.
I'm typing in a Q and A format. I'm typing into a predefined document that
was sent to me. I"ve deleted all the text. I've set up my Q and A with a
hanging indent of .5. When I hit my hard return it tabs over three times as
much as it's supposed to and skips a line....

Changing background color
Recently I was playing with my page settings and set Word 2000 to make all
documents to display with a blue background and white lettering. Now, for
the life of me I cannot figure out how to change it back! I've looked
through the help files and have looked through every menu. no luck. I even
tried creating a new Normal.doc file.
Can anyone please tell me how to changed the Word setting...

:: INSERT document at end -- need help
Word 2002 on Windows XP SP3. I have an 8-meg document and I want to INSERT a 4-meg
document at the end. I've done this before with no trouble. But these documents won't
allow it. No matter what I try, I get a message: "Too many edits. Operation will be
incomplete. Save your work."

Word 2003 Opening Page Defaults
I know this is probably silly to someone else...but I have had Word 2003
installed on this computer since the original purchase from Dell. When I
open Word, the curser defaults to starting on approximately line 5...and has
been this way forever. Something has changed, as when I open it now...the

Linking a numbered paragraph to a numbered heading in Word 2007
I have read Shauna Kelly's comprehensive article on numbering:

now trying to apply it to Word 2007. I would like for my numbered
paragraph to restart after I make a new heading. Like this:

line spacing?
When i hit enter it seems as though it wants to skip two spaces instead of
one. I looked at the line spacing and it was set to multiple, so i changed it
to single...and it still jumps a space. Is thereany other setting or known
reason why this would be doing this?...

why does update fields change the page margins in Word 2007?
I do ctrl-A to select the entire document and then right click the mouse to
get "update field". This to update references to figures, table of contents
and index.
AND THEN THE NEW PAGE MARGINS I HAVE SET ARE CHANGED TO THE MARGINS I USED

How Do I Get a {REf} to return {LISTNUM} number?
In a legal document my format looks like:
6 (1) blah blah...
(2) blah blah...
where the 6 is a numbered style linked to style Section and (2) is one level
down called Subsection. The (1) is generated using {LISTNUM} to make it
appear on the same line with the 6, rather than on a separate line.
I don't know how to place a bookmark so that in a reference, I can get the
(1) returne...

end of page autoformatting skips lines
This drives me absolutley crazy! I have Word 2003. At the bottom of pages,
the autoformat will leave big gaps if it decides that lines from a paragraph
would be lonely at the bottom by themselves while the rest of the paragraph

Letters and envelopes
I can't get my letter to print correctly after printing my envelope. The
printer prints the envelope in the correct direction (landscape), but then
the letter will print in portrait but the right side will be cut off. It's
like word still thinks that it's printing an envelope. I've checked tha page
setup and it has envelope for page 0 and 8 1/2 x 11 for the letter. I've also

headings and document map link errors
Hello...
I am using Word 2003. My document is set up with headings. When I open
document map, clicking on the headings works correctly through about half the
document. It appears that once i create heading 3, any heading 2s that appear
afterword goes to the right page on the click, but highlights the next
heading.
