Sync status icons and menu choices messed up
I have a similar problem to one previously reported in this discussion group,
but still can not get around it.
The only option available to me under File / Sync is Work Offline.
Hovering over the sync status icon on the toolbar shows OneNote is connected
and synchronizing changes, but the status icon is grayed out.
And I no longer see sync status icons on the notebook tabs like I used to....

What is "Pages I Haven't Read"?
Can anybody explain what this is supposed to be for? It's under the view menu
in ON 2007. The help menu offered no help.
When I click it, I don't get the results I expected. Almost all my pages
show up highlighted. What dictates if a page has been read or not? Is this
function to be used with a networked shared notebook? Thanks....

Onenote still a viable product?
Just wondering, since I haven't heard any rumblings about any Onenote
updates. Is this tool still being worked on, or is it mostly considered
'stable' with no new updates planned?

Insert a date object/field
Is there a way to insert a date object or field anywhere in a onenote, like
onenote does automatically to the top of the page? I know you can insert the
current date/time but it doesn't have those nifty buttons where you can
select a new date in a visual calendar....

OneNote 2007 does not start - error message
Whenever I try to start OneNote 2007, the following error message pops up:
OneNote is unable to start. This may be caused by insufficient hard drive
space or by insufficient write permissions for OneNote's cache files in your

automatic publication as backup routine
Users should have the ability to schedule automatic publication routines
(e.g. save as pdf, html, etc) as part of 'backup options'. Since the file
format is proprietary and there is no 'OneNote Viewer', it is really vital to
have the notebooks (or sections) published regularly.

Disable OneNote autoraise when X-Mouse is activated
Good day,
When X-Mouse (activation follows mouse) is activated, OneNote 2007 has the
(irritating) habit of autoraising (bringing itself to the front) whenever
it's selected. This is although I've specifically not checked auto-raise box
when turning on X-mouse (via TweakUI).
I haven't experienced this behaviour with any other Office programs. Anyone
know how to turn it off?

Sections and Section Groups
Call me dense but I cannot figure out the difference between sections and
section groups do or how one would use them. It appears they always show to
the right of the section tabs, but what are they for?...

How to set up daily journal and sort it last to first.
I have been setting up a seperate page each day for my daily journal. I
title it that day, i.e. Thursday, December 18, 2008. Is there a better way
to group these rather than a page per day? Also I can't get it to sort the
pages in the journal so the latest one is on top. Eventually I will have a
list that will be very long and have to scroll down to the bottom everyday to
find my cur...

Installed the TOC powertoy but no cigar
Downloaded and installed the OneNote Powertoy Table of Contents.
It shows up on the Tool bar and is noted in Tools>Options> Add Ins
What is the key to making a TOC with this Powertoy?
I am not sure what to click on when I open a section to get a TOC.
Once I click on the TOC button it dims out but nothing happens.
It would appear to be a handy gadget if I could only master the thing....

Notebook Templates with Section Groups
I can very easily create templates for projects that contain sections. I am
unable to create templates that contain section groups. I have searched the
discussion group with no success. Is this possible. If not it would be a
nice addition....

sections names problem
I changed sections names to capital letters.
While one of the secrtion names appears in capital letters, others dont.
When I open with win explorer my on files,
I see that the section folders are in capital letters.
But on does nto recognize it.
I have deleted the cache folder and rerun on.
Nothing changed.

OneNote - Sync Error
I am new to OneNote so I will try to explain as best as possible.
We have a department that uses OneNote, it has a OneNote share on a file
server and about 10 people can access and go about there business. Two of
these uses constantly get an error when synchronizing (which is set to
automatic). The error reads:
OneNote cannot access the section file. (Error code: 0x5)

Does OneNote Do These Things?
Please can someone tell me if OneNote:
(a) Can embed everything in one OneNote file (text, images, pdfs, etc) for
easy use on multiple computers.
(b) Can be installed in Windows XP SP2 with Office 2000 installed (ie.
without messing up Office 2000).

Hyperlink sending an email.
I want to send a OneNote folder by email (with no attatchment) with a
hyperlink. I have a hyperlink activated but when i send the email to someone
the email they recieve does not have the hyperlink activated. They are not
able to click on the link. How can I activate this?...

Onenote - How do I find folders by name?
I have searched hither and yon and cannot seem to find any way to search for
a onenote folder by name. Maybe I am misunderstanding the whole concept but I

Backing up Office user dictionary

Can I assign multiple backups to different disks?
It seems that if more than one backup copy is specified, they are all saved
at the same destination disk location. I'd like to be able to continue saving
one of my multiple backups in the traditional (default) hard drive location,
but since I have mission critical data, I'd also like the flexibility to
secure a second backup on some external location (other hard drive, flash

How do I change a page to a sub-page & vice versa
I frequently wish to transform a OneNote Page into a sub-page (and vice
versa). I can do it by creating a blank sub-page, then gradding the page
into the sub-page area till it changes. Then I must delete the blank
sub-page. THis seems clunky. I'm guessing there's a more clever way to
accomplish this. Any ideas? ...
