Photos Won't Attach
"Rob Stewart" <robastewart[ at ]msn.com> 12/30/2008 7:43:57 PM
Using Window Live Mail. Each attempt to email any photo fails. This occurs
whether clicking on a photo to email it (with WLM set as the default mail
program), or attaching a photo to a new message. What is the problem with
attaching photos in WLM?

If you are using IE8 beta, remove it.

Windows Live Mail has the following incompatibility issues with Internet
Explorer 8 Beta 2:
? Photo e-mail can't be sent if you have Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2
installed.
When Windows Live Mail is installed on a computer running Internet Explorer
8 Beta 2,
the photo e-mail feature will not work.
? E-mail can't be sent when the format is changed from Rich Text to plain
text with
Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 installed.
When Windows Live Mail is installed on a computer running Internet Explorer
8 Beta 2,
you won't be able to send e-mail when the format is changed from Rich Text
to plain
text.
? RSS feeds fail to initialize when Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 is installed
When Windows Live Mail is installed on a computer running Internet Explorer
8 Beta 2,
RSS feeds will fail to initialize and you'll receive an error.
? Encoding for plain text messages can't be set when Internet Explorer 8
Beta 2 is
installed
When Windows Live Mail is installed on a computer running Internet Explorer
8 Beta 2,
you won't be able to set encoding for plain text messages.
There is no workaround for these issues, except to uninstall Internet
Explorer 8 Beta 2.

Okay. Obviously, IE8b2 has to go. Could someone point me to instructions
for removing IE8? It doesn't appear in the program uninstall lists. Thanks
for all the help.

Found instructions for uninstalling IE8 at support.microsoft. Back to IE7
now, but problem persists in attempts to email photos via WLM. The photos
embed into the draft message, but then upon send, a dialog box appears
warning that there is a problem sending the photos and that the recipients
will not be able to download the pictures.

You missed a couple of IE8 beta effects. ;-)

1) You can't change the font used for composing or reading plain
text messages. It always uses New Times Roman.
2) The text size for plain text always reverts back to medium.
