Views no longer work properly
I recently went through the ordeal of trying to update Norton's Internet
Security which caused multiple lockups. I ended up having to do several hard
reboots which I am afraid have corrupted parts of OE. I ended up requesting a
refund from Symantec and going with Avast. Since that time, my newsgroups are
acting weird.

Organizing OE Folders
I've been adding folders under the "Inbox" folder for a long time. Then, I
began adding folders under the sub-folders - ie. nesting folders. This is
not a good practice I'm learning after my OE database became corrupted. I
also have allowed the folders get too large which contributed, I'm sure. So,

Scanning e-mail
Since reading here numerous times that e-mail scanning is redundant and can
even cause problems with OE I turned the scanner off (AVG 8 Free).
Having become sensitised to this issue I noticed that all anti-virus
applications promote the virtues of e-mail scanning.
How can the manufacturers be persuaded to at least insert a proviso that
e-mail scanning is not always ("never" would be to...

Default folder size
I run Win XP SP3, OE 6.
Following this NG has certainly enhanced my understanding of OE.

Cannot Import Other Address Book
After reinstalling Windows XP and getting all the service packs
updated, everything is going fine except for one thing. When I try to
import a txt address book into my windows address book it will only go
so far as the mapping window and nothing shows up there for me to map.

When I try to read or send emails with outlook express I frequently get the

Creating new mail in Outlook Express
Sometimes when I start a new message and click on To and the address book
appears,then when I click on a name it automatically appears in the To
column.Also when I click on another name and on BCC the name appears twice.

Outlook Express 6
Since downloading the security update for Internet Explorer 7 on December 21,
2008 I can no longer view messages in Outlook Express. The programme opens,
the list messages displays correctly, and new messages download. But I can
not view the contents of any messages, either in the preview pane or when
clicking on them.
Can anyone solve this problem?...

Read emails automatically deleted after exiting program
Hi,
My grandmother has a peculiar problem w/ her Express 6 (2004) edition.
Whenever she opens an email (and leaves it in "read" status), if she exits
the program and comes back in, the email is gone. And it's not going to
Deleted Items. I looked all over the place for such a setting, but could find
none. I set up a workaround (copied all Inbox items to a backup folder for
safekeeping...
