Moving from Outlook Express 6 to Vista
I have read a whole bunch of these questions, but it doesn't seem to help me.
I have an old laptop running Outlook Express 6. I just got a new laptop
with Vista/Windows Mail, and would like to move my old emails etc. onto my
new laptop.
I have moved my contacts over, but can't seem to move anything else. I do
not have any disks, as both laptops came pre-loaded with the programs.

record digital TV without "digital cable ready" PC?
Hi,
I just purchased a Dell XPS 420 (with ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner)
under the assumption that I could use Media Center to record TV, including
the HD versions of my local news. I am able to get standard def channels, it

Windows movie maker
Hi everyone,
I'm getting an error message whenever I open my windows movie maker(WMM).
The error signature is: AppName: moviemk.exe AppVer: 2.1.4026.0 ModName:
qedit.dll
ModVer: 6.5.2600.5512 Offset: 0001b2f1
It has an option to send error report or Don't send. If I click send the WMM

Odd...XP makes copies of JPG's automatically when I try to delete.
I'm currently running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 Service Pack 3.
Whenever I try to select multiple pictures (jpg's) to delete using the CTRL
key and mouse, as soon as I hit delete after selecting the pictures, windows
makes copies of all the files I selected within the same folder. I looked in
the folder options and didn't see anything about auto copying upon delete!

Drivers for HP Expresscard Digital/Analog TV Tuner and Compatibility with Vista MC
I'm running Vista 32 Home Premium on a laptop. It came with an HP
438587-001 tuner. Best I can tell, its either a Hauppauge HVR-1500 or 1600
equivalent. I also believe there is an HP driver update that will bring it
up to clear QAM standards. Problem is the driver update is listed for an HP

IR Hardware Not Detected
When attempting to configure WMC on a new HP Pavillion with a Comcast set
top box, I keep getting a "IR Hardware Not Detected" error, and cannot
complete the installation. I spoke with HP support, and they want to to a
"recovery", which will ensure the drivers are not corrupted. I'm not so

Fatal Execution Engine Error (0x7927f6e)
I recently completed a clean installed from the backup partition.
Everything worked great for a couple of days. If I try to open the Media
Center, I receive the subject error. I have tried to un-install .Net
Framework v 1.1 but it will not uninstall. Looking for tmpf7.tmp file and
cannot find. Can you help diagnose and correct error?

Watching Live TV between Media Center PCs
Hi all,
I have 2 Vista Ultimate machines, and an Xbox 360 and I have been tinkering
with Media Center. I have a cheap little usb hd antenna connected to
machine "a" and I setup the Xbox extender to look at "a" and I can get the
guide, watch live TV, etc from the Xbox. Now I want to do the same thing
from the second machine "b", but I cannot figure out if it can be done, or

Why no picture with HD channels?
I configured my wife's HP Pavillion m9400z running Vista home premium 64
bit SP1 for Comcast digital cable. All of the channels are listed in the
guide, but all of the HD channels I've tried so far have sound, but no
picture. Or rather the picture is all static and "noise". Any idea why I
cannot see the HD channels?

System Recovery froze
Went through system recovery to bring back factory settings and went through
all of the setup fine. on the final step when I clicked "finish" the computer
froze. The mouse is movable but nothing is clickable and the recovery isn't
completeing through to the desktop. I have restarted the computer but it just
goes straight back to that screen and I click Finish again it is freezes
again......

power down problems
I have a subscription to a sport tv channel by broadband.
All my settings are at "never" (or anything longer than the sports event I
plan to watch) for the monitor and the hard disk in control panel>power
options. But every ten minutes the full screen reverts to quarter screen.
I tried my subscription on a laptop running Vista where I had more power
down options but the same result....

Hi Everyone. I hope everyone had a safe and nice Christmas. I have Windows
Xp Media Center 2005 and a Hauppauge WinTv-HVR-1250 PCIe card installed, I
brought the card thinking that I could receive the extended basic
channels(100+) that Comast Cable has to offer.
Unfortunately it does not. It only receives digital channels up to 99. My

Vista Ultimate & Linksys DMA2200 (Domain & Workgroup)
Hello - hoping someone has the answer to this:
I can only get WMC to connect properly with my DMA2200 when my notebook is
removed from my SBS 2003 domain, to a standard "Workgroup" workgroup.

hello there
I have this problem today, when I start my computer. I see the logo of
windows xp and then for a moment the screen turns blue with code letters.
Then it begins from the start by itself. I tried the safe modes but
unfortunately they don't work. The problem begun when I connected the mouse

I can't access my old user directory
After reinstalling XP my old user folder is still on the hard drive. Trying
to open it with msdos prompt says - access denied - but the pc is still
showing a large amount of space used up. Are my old files still there, or if

Linksys DMA2200 and recorded and live TV
My Vista Premium machine records and plays back TV programs in dvr-ms format
and works great. However my brand new (and firmware updated) DMA2200 just
gives the following message when I try to play them back. "Files neededto

XP MCE 2002 and Media Player 11 - any hope?
I've read in many places that MCE 2002 does not support Media Player 11. But
I received a Kodak WiFi Digital Frame for Christmas that requires Media
Player 11 to display photos from my computer.

Boots but won't go to desktop.......
