WPA2-AES, but notification area bubble says "(unsecured)"
I have a wireless network setup using WPA2 with AES. I recently noticed that
the notification area bubble sometimes shows the wireless connection as
"(unsecured)" even though the computer and access points are configured for
WPA2 and AES.
I would like to know if there is a known issue in Windows XP with service
pack 2?
My knowledge base searches haven't found anything yet.

Wireless Network Connection - wilful blindness to my network
Hello
I have a HP Pavilion dv 8217TX with Intel Core Duo processor T2300 1.66 GHz.
My Windows XP Professional laptop has recently developed a fault. It cannot
connect to my home wireless network. The wireless function is working as it
scans and detects several network in my vicinity, just not my network. It
seems 'wilfully blind' to it.
I have a built in wireless card - Intel Pro/Wirel...

Home Sys: Second Router vs "Splitter"?
Just put my printer on Ethernet. Now all the ports on my
wireless router are filled up.
I'd like to run some cable to the kitchen and put a WAP there -
for which I'd need another port into the existing router.
Got an extra router lying around. I guess I could disconnect the
printer from the existing router, run a cable from that port to
"Internet" on the spare router, and then use the ...

Network router not showing up in Device Manager
Hi. I'm trying to fix up my husband's computer which is slow. He is
using XP. I wanted to update the router drivers and when I looked in
device manager, it shows 3 routers but none of them are the one we are
actually using. I asked to scan for new hardware and the result was nothing.
Device manager shows the adapters are:
6T04 Adapter
Atheros xxx
Realtek xxx (This is the old one)

The wireless barrier.
Hi,
It is really not a barrier. In fact, I cant find a descriptive name for it.
It is weird, yet common and kind of that thing that you can not much do
about, or even know why.
My laptop, like every other laptop out there, has a wireless NIC. Not
supprisingly, it connects to every secure network for which I have a key,
alomst. That almost is the weird thing that I can describe but...

Restricting access on a wifi network

connection to my tenants BUT I don't want those computers to have access to
my desktop, printer, laptop etc. Is there anyway to restrict that access?

OT: Private Ethernet
Hi all.
Sorry this is slightly off-topic, but I can't find a suitable group.
If anyone can answer, I shall be eternally grateful.
I have two PCs, each running Vista Business, which are connected by an
Ethernet cable.
I can see the Public folders in both directions but my own folders,
although visible in both directions, can only be accessed one way, say
from machine A to machine B. ...

Using A Wireles Printer
A friend is having a problem with her Belkin wireless router finding her
new Brother wireless printer/scanner. The Belkin router is the new "n"
standard. The printer specs say it supports the "b" and "g" standard. Is
it possible that this printer will only connect if we throttle down her router
to "g". Does the "n" standard cause a compatibility problem?
Thanks!
