Account Group Membership Visible in Active Directory Users and Computers but not Found in LDAP Query
Hello all,
I've just run across a problem I've never seen before and was hoping someone
could help me with it. We have an in-house (.NET) application that uses
LDAP to query Active Directory (Server 2003 R2 native mode) and check if a
user is a member of a specific group. With certain accounts (mine
included), this check fails. For other accounts, this same check succeeds.

average disk queuelength???
Hi,
We are running windows 2003 sp2. we tried to monitor the performance of the
server over a day and see that the min and average disk queue length is <2.
However, the Max average disk queue length is large >50.
I find out it happen several times a day. Each time this jump up high for 30
sec. What does it mean? Is it the server hard disk have problem?

OWA and cross domain authentication
Here is the situation.....
I have two domains
Bank.domain.com
and
sterling.domain.com
BOTH domains share one exchange 2003 server (all malboxes reside in one
exchange server) The exchange server lives in the BANK.domain.com.

Win2008, Hardware Raid6 and space not allowed not accessible
Hello
I Have a problem for access to space disk 'not allowed" under Windows 2008
server (standard version).
My hardware is an HP ML350G5 With a Array Smartcard P600. The RAID level is
RAID 6 (6 harddisk of 1TO)
I have one logical unit with around 3,7 TO free.
The installation is made with the smartstart 8.15.
Under Windows I have one disk with 3,7TO of capacity.

Server bluescreen when I run a RDP connection from my notebook
when I run a RDP connection from my workstation every morning, the
server(windows 2003) bluescreen and restart.

Moving KMS for Vista and Windows 2008 server to another computer
Hello -
The server that holds our KMS for Vista is about to be retired. I've
installed a new windows 2008 server (I will have 5 running in the next day
or two to meet the 5 minimum for the volume activation) and applied tmy
windows 2008 KMS key it says it activated successfully and that that server

Cannot access server
First the setup of the system. We had one server which acted as a DC and also
run some web application. Now we have installed a new server (2008), demoted
the old one and made the new one as the DC, AD, DNS, File, DHCP and the old
one is only running the web application.
I have joined all workstations to the new domain which was no problem at

User account with blank password on 2k3 DC
I need to set temporarily a user account with blank password on a 2003 DC.
When I try to do this, the wizard says that the 'password does not meet
policies...'. I have defined the passwords policy to no restrictions on the
GPO and Domain GPO, with the same error. What I am missing here?

Dell PowerVault MD3000 - 15TB. 1 or 2 volumes?
I'm going to be setting up a PowerVault MD3000 enclsoure with an NF500
PowerEdge server. The enclosure will have 15 x 1TB SATAII drives (7200rpm).

Creating a new service

know that new services can be created using the Windows Resouce Kit and
instsrv.exe
I'm confused as to how to set up it up exactly. The company that gave us

Domain Controller still appearing in DNS entry

problem connecting to Domain controller
How can I duplicate existing DC, dns AD on w2k3 servers of one domain to a
new w2k8 server?

Problems with demoting w2k3 dc from domain with new w2k8 dc
we had a domainserver (w2k3) with exchange 2003 installed, now we have
installed a new server with w2k8 with excahgen2007 in the same domain,
everything has been moved over to the new server. FSMO Roles also. Our
problem now is that when we try to demote the w2k3 server it says that
it cannot find the domain it is trying to demote from. We have tried

Cannot stop BEEP in W2008
I cannot find a way to stop windows beeping whenever a message is displayed.
This is particularly annoying for Terminal Services users.

Exchange 2003 Standard: DB Exceeded max size
I'm performing DB maintenance to clean up exchange. is there any way to
monitor the cleanup process? I read an entry in the enent viewer that it
cleaned up old mailboxes, but I'm expecting event 1221 to be inserted.
Also, the server is running SP1 and it only has 700 meg free on drive
C. Ecxhange is on the E drive with 300 gig free. I'm not sure if I can

Server Time and Time Sync
The core first. I had one server which acted as a DC and also run some Web
Application. Now we have installed a second Server (2008) and made it as a
DC, AD, File, DNS. The old server we have demoted and it is now a member of
the new Domain.
My problem is that all the workstation still get syncronized with the time
from the old server, which as such is not much of a problem for me. ...

Problems in DC Replication
Hello.
Am a bit new to Server scenary, and i installed a domain with two Domain
Controllers.
