sysprep and nosidgen
I have been using sysprep to prepare Windows 2000, XP and Windows 2003
images for Virtual Machine testing. When I prep the images I always
select nosidgen. I am trying to get Vista and Windows 2008 images ready
for test but there seems to be no equivalent to nosidgen. The images are
only used for testing and only live for the lenth of the test. It's
important for the SID not to be changed or some...

Vista setup and compatibility question
I'm familiar with computers in general, and Windows through XP, so I
get to be the family helper... latest is my sister-in-law who has an
entry level (Inspiron 530) Dell with Vista Home on the way to replace
an old HP that died, and I get to do the initial startup/setup (she
is almost 80 and has sticky notes everywhere to help her remember,
so there is ZERO chance she could set first setup on...

Unattended Vista Installation project
Hi every-one,
This is my first post so apologies if this is not in the correct
sub-forum :)
We need to run many unattended, concurrent installations of Vista (HP
and Ultimate) in both 32 and 64 bit as well as a few XP installs. We
think that network installations may be the best for us. Once the
installations have finished, we would need certain applications (3rd
party) installing and then stre...

Date problems in MS-DOS program
We are running an old MS-DOS program (Computer Associates AccPac Plus) in
Windows Vista. However, this accounting program requires the user to log
into the program with a date. The problem is that the log in uses a
two-digit versus a 4-digit year. Since the data we are accessing is
pre-2000 (e.g. 1989) we enter 12/31/89, for example. However, the program
interprets this date as 12/31...

"Upgrading" 64bit Vista to 32bit Vista...
I built a 64 bit Vista Ultimate system. Unfortunately, some of the 32 bit
video editing programs that I use do not run reliably under the 64 bit OS.
My retail package is for Vista Ultimate sp1 and contains two DVDs, one for
32 bit installations and one for 64 bit installations.
My question is: Can I use the 32 bit DVD and perform an "upgrade" to the
current 64 bit installation rather...

What happened to my cd-rom driver and why is it disabled?

I went to install a new program from a CD, the drive did not respond,

manager, the device is shown with a little yellow spot, and the message
box says the driver service is disabled. What driver service is this,
and how do I enable it?
