when connecting remotely [by tel line and modem] from win/xp to win/xp
workstation using built in dialup server feature, is there some drawback
opposed to some other third-party connection methods like pcanywhere. for
example connection stability, server-ready, screen refresh, file transfer.

Remote Desktop Service not behaving properly but no error
Hi.
I have 2 XP SP2 clients trying to connect using RDP.
Connecting Client uses RDC v6 and/or 5.1
Serving client uses the default TermServices (5.1)
RDC is enabled on serving client
Ports are open and listening, communication is ok
When trying to remotely log in into serving client, nothing happens. Hitting
connect does nothing and return to RDC connexion dialog without error
message...

Error Occured In The Remote Access Desktop ActiveX control
When ever I run a console program to try and connect to my WHS I get This
Error:
An error occurred in the Remote Desktop ActiveX control installed on your
computer. Something I beleive is wrong with this ActiveX control, is there a
way to re install it? I am running SP 3 And the error is NOT related to SP3
because it was working fine with SP3. Any Suggestions?

Remote access
Our company has downsized and now I have to go "on the road" for business. I
now have to access my XP Pro work computer remotely.
I've read and tried many of the posts here but to no avail. I used to have

Wake up remote computer via RDC when on VPN
Hello,
I have configured my computer at work to go to standby after 30
minutes (S3 standby). I have turned on Wake up on LAN option in BIOS
and checked the following two options in network card properties in
Windows XP:
- Allow this device to bring the computer out of the standby.
- Only allow management stations to bring the computer out of the

I would like to setup remote assistance in XP.
When you go into help and support centre and selecte offer remote assistance
i want to enter in the ip address of the machine and remote manage the

RDC not working anymore (because of the SP3?)
Hi.
It appears that I can't log in my distant computer since I have
installed SP3 on it.
When I enter the client IP, it does... nothing. No error message. It
just doesn't want to connect to it.
After some researchs on the internet, it seems that I'm not the only one

Continual print jobs to disconnected printer

When an office has several RDP connections all of a sudden a minimized
session will pop up, usually all of them will and interupt the work that I'm
doing.
It is like the network, or internet connection dropped and then restarted in
a split second. This is a WAN connection to several other offices.

Remote Desktop freezes after a few minutes of non use
I remote into my offices 03 std server and if I reduce my session, after a
few minutes, when I bring it back up, the session is frozen, mouse works but
I have to click on the "x" 2 times, it closes and I have to re-initialize the
session. Generally what was open will come back up if done so with in a

Terminating remote batch file with Ctrl-C
Hi
I am using Windows Remote Desktop on XP to control another XP machine
over a LAN.
I often need to run a .bat file on the remote PC from within a cmd
window. Sometimes the .bat file fails to exit and I need to terminate
it with Ctrl-C.

Re boot Safe mode
When working remotely from time to time I need to reboot the remote machine,
but I can only disconnect.
Is there a way to reboot a remote PC and can I re boot into safe mode?

DUN Fails after standby on laptop
Hi,
Not sure if anyone has come across this issue before but when using a DUN
connection on an XP (SP2 or 3) laptop (Toshiba M9 / M10) - dial up OK
everything works great shutdown the connection then Suspend the laptop (ie do
not reboot). Bring the laptop out of suspend and any subsequent attempts to
do a DUN connection results in the following error :
